How We Work

At The Final Curtain Finishing Company, we offer needlepoint finishing services designed around the customer experience.
By working with a limited number of clients at a time, we’re able to provide quick turnaround times, greater process transparency, modern communication, and full-service material sourcing.
Read through the six steps below for a full explanation of our process.

Needlepoint sourcing materials

If you are looking for a fabric, trim, or embellishment that is not already in your stash, we would love to help. Our Sourcing Service is designed to help you find the right finishing materials for your piece.

Our studio is located just steps from some of the top fabric and trim stores in New York City’s Garment District, giving us access to a wide range of unique materials. We shop locally owned stores and have strong relationships in the area, which helps us find special details that make your finished piece feel truly one of a kind.

The sourcing service is $40, plus the cost of materials, which will be added to your final invoice. We work with you to find options within your budget and confirm all additional costs before any materials are purchased.

Because sourcing services involve your review and approval along the way, timely responses are appreciated. Delays in confirming materials, pricing, or selections may extend your finishing timeline.

Additional Needlepoint Finishing FAQs:

What is professional needlepoint finishing?

Professional needlepoint finishing is the process of transforming a completed stitched needlepoint canvas into a finished decorative or functional item, such as a pillow. At The Final Curtain Finishing Company, we specialize in professionally finished needlepoint pillows with premium craftsmanship, custom sewing, and carefully selected finishing materials.

How does custom needlepoint pillow finishing work?

Our custom needlepoint pillow finishing process is designed to be simple and fully online. First, you reserve a finishing slot through our website and complete the configuration form with your preferred pillow size, backing options, trim selections, and finishing details. Then you ship your stitched needlepoint canvas to our finishing studio. Once your pillow is professionally completed, we send photos for approval and collect the remaining balance before shipping your finished pillow back to you.

How long does needlepoint pillow finishing take?

Typical needlepoint pillow finishing turnaround time is approximately 6–8 weeks after we receive your stitched canvas. Because every piece is handmade and custom finished, turnaround times may vary slightly depending on seasonal demand and project complexity.

What types of needlepoint pillows do you finish?

We currently specialize in needlepoint pillow finishing for decorative pillows in multiple sizes. We also offer optional upgrades such as blocking, zipper closures, pillow inserts, trim application, and fabric sourcing services.

Do I need to block my needlepoint canvas before sending it?

No. If your stitched canvas needs blocking, we can handle that for you as part of the finishing process. Blocking helps straighten and reshape the canvas before construction and is especially important if the canvas has become distorted during stitching.

Can I choose my own fabric and trim for my needlepoint pillow?

Yes. You may provide your own finishing fabric and trim, or you can select our fabric sourcing service and allow our finishing team to choose coordinating materials that complement your needlepoint canvas.

What is knife-edge pillow finishing?

Knife-edge pillow finishing is a clean, tailored pillow construction style without a welt or flange edge. This finishing style creates a modern and elegant look that works beautifully for decorative needlepoint pillows.

Do you offer needlepoint pillow inserts?

Yes. We offer optional pillow inserts as part of the finishing process so your completed pillow arrives ready to display and enjoy.

How much does professional needlepoint finishing cost?

Needlepoint finishing costs vary depending on the size of the canvas and the selected finishing options. Our pricing is designed to be transparent, and customers can view estimated pricing directly on our product page while configuring their pillow finishing order.

Do you only work with needlepoint pillows?

Or current focus is premium needlepoint pillow finishing. This specialized focus allows us to complete the finishing in 6 to 8 weeks, maintain high quality standards, and provide a more consistent customer experience.

Is professional needlepoint finishing worth it?

Professional needlepoint finishing helps protect the time, effort, and investment that went into stitching your canvas. High-quality finishing improves durability, appearance, and long-term enjoyment while ensuring your piece is professionally constructed and display-ready.

How should I ship my needlepoint canvas?

We recommend shipping your stitched needlepoint canvas using a trackable carrier such as UPS or FedEx. We also recommend purchasing shipping insurance through your selected carrier.

Do you return finished needlepoint pillows by mail?
